Calgary

A flying visit to Calgary in May allowed me only to see a little part of the city. Here's the view from my hotel room towards the river (the Bow?) and my Sunday stroll in that park...

Colleagues told me the snow had just gone the week before despite the fact it was the 2nd week in May. However it was easily warm enough to sit out and have my lunch at the River Cafe and view this furry little creature on a tree close by - a black squirrel. I've never seen such an animal before but I am told they are common in Calgary.
I also went up the Calgary Tower to see the city laid out below.Very flat..until you get to the mountains.....
This particular view - straight down - did have me a little spooked!

I had very little time to do anything else except try the wonderful food and explore a shopping mall or two. However this tantalising view of the mountains from the 20th floor of the Shell offices where I was working was enough to make me regret I hadn't hired a car! Only an hours drive..

This is the only view I managed to get of Calgary's downtown, just before I left.

Amd finally a very clever seat configuration so that everybody had aisle access. And the view of the plains as we flew into Calgary.

Craigendarroch

After the skiing we spent a fantastic week at Craigendarroch with the girls, along with Hilary, Jim and their family. Lyndsay, Jorge, Stuart and Stephanie.

Sunday morning at Craigendarroch and then on top of the hill.

Golf on the Ballater course:
Katy at Crathie Church
The whole family after lunch at the Ashvale in Aberdeen. Susan, Robin, Grandma and Paul joined us.
We had to walk lunch off somehow so went Duthie Park afterwards.
The girls went horse riding at Glen Tanner

Then the Big Day - Steph's 21st Birthday Lunch on Saturday 19th April

And our last night in Ballater.

Skiing at les Arcs

Skiing with the girls in Les Arcs, April 4th - 11th 2009

Wall to wall sunshine made a great holiday, although it also made for very heavy snow. But we had lots of fun.

Our apres ski spot:

Our picnic before attempting a tricky black:

The water jump which was our favourite spot for a hot chocolate at the end of the day. The videos are fun, especially the second one!
