Katy's Ceilidh

We started Katy's birthday celebrations in KL where we stayed for a couple of days between Christmas and New Year. On the actual date we flew back in the afternoon and arrived home to find the patio fully set by the fabulous Boat Club staff. All that was left to be done was chill the beer, arrange the music and wait for everyone to arrive. Dress was "A Touch of Tartan" with dinner and a bit of Scottish dancing. Great fun, if a little hot and tough on the feet - cermaic tiles are not the best to dance on - but I think everyone had fun! 32 folks dancing on our patio, outside, on the 29th of December!

More Fierce Creatures!

We've found another selection of interesting creatures to share, mostly around the house. However this stick insect which we found up in the Borneo Highlands when we were playing golf in November was absolutely amazing.

This butterfly was just sitting under our sunroof at the house. It was about 15 cm across. The mantis was on the heel of my trainer, left out overnight on the doorstep.

And finally, this smallish monitor lizard turned up in the garden. Katy has seen him over the Christmas holidays from her bedroom window, but had no camera with her. However he has come back to visit so we got him on film. He's about a metre long from nose to tail. He was on the drive when Howard cam home for lunch and by the time I got the camera out he was round by the patio, and wandering off into the jungle.
