Our Visit to Dubai

Howard had work to do in Dubai so I went over with him from Miri to have a look see! And I must say it is quite a city. The shopping malls are amazing – complete with waterfalls, aquariums to dive with sharks in, ski slopes where you ski on or ice rinks to skate on!

The buildings are also pretty amazing. The Burg Khalifa at 828 metres is the highest building in the world and makes every other reasonably-sized sky scraper look tiny! There are also some stunning hotels, the Dubai Marina and newly constructed souqs.

However some of the the old stuff is pretty good too. You can now go dinner cruising on the Dubai Creek, the desert and the camels are not far away, and the sea is ever present and still as warm! Those beautiful dhows are there too.

In contrast Hatta is only an hours drive away and the old methods of farming are still used…..

And last but not least old friends don’t change either!

My Leaving Golf Tournament

Ladies

Thank you for a wonderful day out yesterday, the golf, my lunch, my lovely gifts and the karaoke! As those of you who stayed to see the present-giving the polo shirt is lovely and sports a fabulous little logo – MLSG (Miri Ladies Social Golf). It’s nice to know we are an official group!

But as I said yesterday the biggest and best present of all was to hear that you might continue to have these little tournaments. Easy to organise (well, sort of, Frouke?!) and such fun for all levels of golfer.

I have loved my golfing life in Miri and you have all contributed greatly to that enjoyment. Golf in Dubai will be a little different – more expensive, more exclusive and certainly hotter and thus I know I will miss our precious Eastwood and the great times I have there with you all.

Love to all

Kay
