Stuart left for home yesterday after a 5-day visit here. Far too short we say, as we loved having him. Despite the short visit we managed to show him a little bit of Miri and its surroundings. First, a walk to the waterfall at Lambir Hills, an easy introduction to the jungle and its delights. We went for a paddle, not a swim!
Pleeths and Allins, please note the broken bridge on the way to the waterfall. A tree must have fallen on the bridge in the recent storm, and as you can see it is no longer usable! When we visited 6 weeks ago this was a whole bridge!
We also headed for the coast for a walk along the cliff down to the beach, to view our very own Stack.
Another day we visited Niah cave. We went to the museum which holds all the artefacts found in the cave including a 40,000 year old scull, the oldest human found in SE Asia.
On the walk in we came across another interesting Fierce Creature, only about 5 inches long thank goodness, but very strange. A hammerhead worm, could you say?
On then into the cave, with a stop to view the poles that the birds nest collectors use. There was no-one climbing them this time, although there were men collecting the guano and carrying it out on their backs.

Stuart's visit
And finally, "Beam me up, Scotty", a ray of sunlight streaming through the cave.
We didn't work hard all the time. We did have time for a bit of R and R:
At UluMulu restaurant at the marina by the sea.......
The Marriott for the afternoon...
All too soon it was saturday morning and we had to take him back to the airport for his flight home. Here's to the next time!
