The Flight to Lima

4AM taxi (ouch) to the airport. Easy checkin and then to the lounge. No breakfast there because we will be packed with food during the day.  Nice to walk straight onto a busy plane again, there was a big queue. We were the only 2 people in business class so had a personal steward - we had to pay attention to the safety briefing because he was doing it for us alone!  A nice breakfast.

Schiphol has changed a bit again.  We tried to change our $100 bills but no luck. A nice time in the KLM lounge where we learned that the plane to Panama City was delayed by 30 minutes. KLM has much nicer business class seats now, we were on a Boeing 777 with individual pods with flat beds, very nice.  Anyway the 10 hour flight whizzed by and Kay managed 5 films!

Panama mountains
A short turn around in Panama City, just time to grab a quick drink in the lounge and watch a little bit of the Masters 2nd round. Then a 4 hour flight to Lima. We were getting tired at this point as the flight left at midnight body clock time  It was an old 737 so the business class seats were like the Miri to KL leg, not conducive to sleep. We had a not very nice dinner and did sleep a little bit. In Lima we were met by our guide, Sebastian, and driver Julio. A 30 minute drive to the hotel. We were t particularily impressed with what we saw of Lima in the dark - it is a city of 11 million which has grown dramatically in the last 30 years.  We go our room, opened cases and went to bed on one of the largest and hardest beds we have ever slept on, fortunately we we so tired that we managed to sleep arlund 11.30 pm - 5.30 am in the uk. 25.5 hours door to door.
