Rain and Landsides

The rain we have had this season is well beyond local expectations. The King Tides we have had have been higher than seen in many years. The trees on the camp fringe are falling as the sea encroaches, and the rain has been making a massive impact on the landscape here.
And it is dangerous...last week 2 people were killed as a landslip overcame the Shell station just underneath Canada Hill.

This is the rain from the house this afternoon:

This was the result of the landslip on Thursday - 5 hourses were completely destroyed. Luckily it happened during the day so the householders knew what was happening and could escape. No one was hurt. This is just over the road from the Grand Palace (where Belles Bookshop is)

And here is the road south on the way to Bintulu. The yellow concrete mixer lorry was just too much for the road - the whole road just fell away.

And this is Hatsies garden on camp...the whole garden was underwater...

This is the 1st tee on the golf course taken from the flooded car park - I was sitting in the Prado taking this..
And finally this was a tree that came down after a night of rain. Its roots just got washed away and it fell - the top hit the nearby house but no damage done.
