A very enjoyable last breakfast with the Carnes, Grahams and Doyles in the Vincci hotel then check out and back on the road.
Heading to Toledo we drove into Extremadura stopping at its capital, Merida, for a walk around the city exploring the Roman sites of aquaduct, temple, forum, city gates and bridge. Impressive remains but the rest of the city was not exciting.
We left as the sun was at its zenith (30C) so we travelled with the top up another 300km to Toledo where we are staying in a Parador which was a joint gift from the girls to us. The hotel is situated across the river from the city and offers incredible views of Toledo with sun up and after dark.
We enjoyed a welcome drink on the terrace gazing at the city and then had a sumptuous dinner with a very nice red wine. Kay finished the evening with a glass of PX.
