Breakfast at 8, where were are encouraged to make sandwiches for lunch, and to fill our lunch boxes with salads and fruit. We have also all been given handlebar carriers, plus panniers so we everything we need for the day. All the bikes had been loaded off the ship for us so we simply had to identify them, get a crew member to adjust anything necessary and off we went.
A lovely morning, with no wind, and probably about 30 degs but as long as we were cycling we made our own wind, which kept us cool! We stopped for a nice morning coffee in a little riverside cafe. The first of many such delightful places.
......which led us to climb up a very steep hill for about half an hour until we got to the view point. It was worth it!
We cycled on and then found a quiet little cafe where we ordered ‘fish on a stick’ - basically barbecued mackerel, served with some potatoes. Extremely nice!
We all had a drink then cycled on until we found a beach beside the river to eat the packed lunch we had from the buffet in the morning.
Sadly things went a bit wrong when we headed for bed. Smoke from the adjacent boat was in the girls AC and they couldn’t sleep there. It took some persuasion bur Claire eventually managed to get the crew to give the girls another room for the night. None of us slept well after that upset.
