Approximately 9AM departure from the boat and we were off down the right bank. The intended route was to cross the river by ferry to Ottensheim but the girls spotted an alternative and we went over a dam and set of lock gates then back up a spit, passing an Olympic style canoe and rowing practice lake.
We then stopped at the village of Ottensheim and had coffee at a lovely little backerei in the centre.
It wasn’t a long cycling day and we were back at the boat really quickly, moored at the larger town of Linz this time
We showered and changed and headed into the town. It was very hot so we found a shady spot at the Cafe Glockenspiel and had some (mediocre) lunch. Afterwards we took the yellow tourist train for a quick introduction to the centre of the city. Having got our bearings we then walked towards the Nieuwe Dom - very impressive Gothic architecture - apparently it can hold 26000 people. We also found the bakery which made the original Linzertorte so we had a coffee and shared a portion - it was much better than the example we had at (the touristy) Cafe Glockenspiel
