Yosemite Day 1

A relaxed start to the day with nothing more in mind than exploring what the park had to offer in a leisurely way. So, breakfast in our apartment and then a walk outside around 9.30am to see what was what and...wow! What a sight met us. Having arrived late on yesterday we had no idea what our surroundings really were. I think I have never stayed in such a spectacular place! This is a photo of me as we leave the apartment.

Yosemite Falls, with no water in the Falls!
We have booked for a tour to Glacier Point tomorrow so today we simply ambled through the Valley floor, up to Yosemite Falls (a huge waterfall with no water at this time of the year)  and on to Mirror Lake, a lake with virtually no water - see below - we walked right across it. It is easy to see that California is in drought.
We had a packed lunch beside the lake and then strolled home again, all the time catching glimpses and views of the most spectacular mountain scenery and trees!

We had a relaxed drink on our balcony when we got home and could not believe it when a bobcat strolled past, underneath our balcony! Too late to get a decent photo I include here an Internet photo of the animal we saw.
We think this is a most fantastic area but my goodness is it let down by the food outlets. We have just come back from the most disappointing of meals, and have seen how terrible the food choices are - either incredibly cheap and poor quality, or in the case of tonight quite expensive and of poor quality, or the other option would appear to be fine dining at extortionate prices. Come on guys, sort this out!
On our way back from a restaurant that was closed!
