Happy Gatherings - Part 1

Day 5 Mon 1/5/17
The Pleeths took us to a Coverack, a small fishing village on the Lizard. We walked to a sculpture garden full of works by Terence Coventry along the Coastal Path inland route. After viewing the fantastic sculptures we walked back to the village along a very rocky section of the Path. Lunch was crab sandwiches at Elizabeth’s, an elderly lady in the village who puts a sign in her front garden and then makes the sandwiches for you. Excellent! We want to the village store/café for a hot drink and to support the nice proprietor who had suggested Elisabeth’s to us, followed by a cross country drive to Roskilly farm for some ice cream.

Day 4 - Sun 30/4/17
We woke to weather as bad as had been forecast. The Audretschs arrived from London to change at Jane's.  We took a taxi to Creek House with the Doyle's and Graham's arriving as the rain stopped at 1pm and walked up hill to the wedding service marquee. The rain started again heavily but fortunately was off by the time the bridal party arrived. After the wedding celebration we had champagne and canapés and then walked back down to the meadow where the party tent had been erected. More drinks and then we sat for the informal dinner and the excellent speeches. A Cornish ceilidh band played for the first part of the evening which was good fun and finished with an Orcadian Strip the Willow which we led. The entertainment then became music via Spotify chosen by Charlotte which was good but rather loud for us oldies.  After Cornish pasties at 11:00 the party wound down at 11:45 and we all got a taxi back to Falmouth just before midnight.

Day 3 - Sat 29/4/17 We travelled open top in the sunshine to Exeter where we had lunch at with Dave and Barbara. It was good to see them again after 3 years we reckon. We then drove on to Falmouth, again top down, arriving about 4pm to Jane and Andrew's. The Doyle's and Graham's came for drinks and we all had dinner at the Boathouse.   203 miles Bath to Falmouth. Total 585 miles

Day 2 - Fri 28/4/17
Howard and I went to the Roman Baths, which were excellent.  In the afternoon we played golf with Charlie and Annie at Cumberwell Park. Annie played a personal best.

Day 1 - Thurs 27/4/17
We set off on our European road trip at 9am with 20262 miles on the clock. We arrived at Charlie and Annie’s in Bath just before 5pm.  382 miles Edinburgh to Bath
