Up packed and off about 11, very sad to say goodbye to Katy and wonderful Barcelona. However we need to be in Seville for Sunday, places to see and things to do. So off to Zaragoza. We knew very little about it other than it has a historic centre and is surrounded by desert. Yes, desert. The Monegros Desert. It’s a huge area and there are still tilled fields to be seen. How on earth the farmers manage I don’t know. It would appear cereals are grown and there were loads of what I assumed to be piggeries, so all the pigs must be kept inside and grain fed.
We took the motorway for the most part but when it came for a lunch break we decided to head off the motorway on the Nroad. However that was easier said than done as there were very few exits. The next one took us to what can only be described as a one horse town called Bujaraloz. Looking for a toilet and a cup of coffee we found an uninspiring looking restaurant and went to investigate. Well, wow! We opened the door onto a modern, clean and extremely busy place with lots of lovely food on offer at extremely good prices. We decided we’d have to go for the all you can eat buffet at 14.95 euros as the quality and variety looked so good.
Soo, very full and happy with ourselves we drove on to Zaragoza, checked into the hotel, had a chill and then headed out for an early evening stroll. And WHAT a surprise! Zaragozas old centre is beautiful. We walked and explored, took some photos, had a drink in a cosy bar and look forward to exploring more tomorrow
